Lyrics Styles & Effects

BetterLyrics provides an extensive range of customization options for lyrics styles and dynamic effects, allowing you to fine-tune the visual experience to perfection.

Typography & Layout

From the settings panel, you can perform pixel-perfect adjustments to the lyrics text:

Font Size & Spacing

Dynamic Font Size: You can independently set the font sizes for Primary Lyrics (Original), Phonetic Lyrics (e.g., Romaji), and Translated Lyrics.
Line Spacing adjustments:
- Overall Spacing Factor: Controls the vertical distance between two independent lines of lyrics.
- Inner Spacing Factor: Controls the vertical distance between the original line and its translation/phonetic line within the same lyrics block.
Font Weight: Adjust the boldness of the lyrics text to match different background styles.

Alignment

Supports Left, Center, and Right alignment out of the box.
Auto Wrap: Automatically wraps lyrics that exceed the screen width. This ensures complete visibility in narrow-screen modes or multitasking windows.

Multi-layer Lyrics Order

If you enable original, translated, and phonetic lyrics simultaneously, you can freely arrange their Layer Order. For instance, you could place the original lyrics in the middle, phonetic on top, and translation at the bottom.

Colors & Opacity

To ensure lyrics remain legible against complex backgrounds, BetterLyrics introduces adaptive coloring and deep opacity management.

Opacity Management:
- Separately control the opacity of Played and Unplayed original lyrics (e.g., unplayed lyrics default to 30% opacity to highlight the current focus).
- Independently control the opacity of translated and phonetic lyrics (defaults to 60%).
Adaptive Font Color: Automatically extracts the text color with the highest contrast based on the currently playing album art or background.
Custom Colors: You can forcefully override the Foreground, Background, and Stroke colors of the lyrics.

Advanced Lyrics Effects

This is the core of BetterLyrics' visual experience. Beyond basic scrolling, you can enable a variety of rendering effects.

Word-by-Word Highlight

When playing .lrc or .ttml lyrics with word-level timestamps, BetterLyrics parses and renders a syllable-by-syllable highlight effect. Combined with smooth scrolling, it delivers a precise karaoke-like experience.

Glow & Long Syllable Persistence

When enabled, the currently sung text emits a soft glow.
Long Syllable Effect: Designed specifically for slow songs or sustained notes. You can set a trigger threshold (e.g., syllables longer than 700ms). During sustained notes, the scale and glow intensity will dynamically adjust over time.

Scale & Float Animation

Scale Effect: The currently playing line or syllable slightly enlarges (default 115%) to emphasize the vocal focus.
Float Animation: Lyrics gently float up and down while scrolling or idling, breathing life into the interface.

Additional Visual Filters

Blur: Applies a Gaussian blur to unplayed background lyrics.
Fade Out & Edge Feathering: Adds fading layers to the top and bottom edges of the lyrics window, ensuring smooth transitions as lyrics scroll in and out of the screen.
Out of Sight: Unplayed lyrics beyond a certain range will fade backward with a 3D depth perspective.

Effect Parameter Fine-tuning

Advanced users can tweak the timing curves (Easing Types) for all animations:

Scroll Duration and Ease Mode (supports Quad, Cubic, etc.).
Even the bounce and transition times when paging reaches the Top Duration and Bottom Duration can be individually adjusted.

3D Space

BetterLyrics natively supports projecting the flat 2D lyrics layer into a 3D space.

Enable Auto 3D to let the software automatically tweak the X, Y, and Z tilt angles based on the music's rhythm and spectrum.
Or, manually adjust the Fan Lyrics angle, X/Y/Z tilts, and 3D Depth to craft a unique perspective lyrics desktop.
